Professionally: I am thrilled to be teaching this course for the third time. In addition to teaching social studies in a few different high school contexts, I hold a BA in Philosophy, a teaching certificate in Social Studies & Sociology, and an MA in Teaching & Curriculum. Currently, I’m working on my PhD with MSU’s College of Education.
I’m broadly interested how social studies and teacher education intersects with digital media, media literacy, and the diverse worldviews we hold. I’m motivated by seeing young teachers grow into their roles as critical and creative educators who ooze excellence, confidence, and sincerity.
Personally: I’m a Michigander who enjoys spending time with my family, reading ‘heady stuff’, indie music, playing & watching basketball, historical film/television, and being outside.
*If I could live in any time period other than today, I would pick either the era of European Colonization (during the 1500’s-1700’s) or the early 1960’s in the US during the Cold War.
